Big Room Sound is owned and operated by sound designer and re-recording mixer J.R. Fountain who for the past 15 years has been extremely fortunate to work in Toronto's film and television industry. His career began with a highschool co-op placement at Sound Dogs Toronto in Deluxe's 424 Adelaide Street facilities in 1997. J.R. was kept on through the summers as a trainee and before reaching college in 1999 had already worked on his first feature film "The Bride of Chucky" as an assistant sound editor. The next 3 years were spent in film school at Sheridan College's Media Arts program in Oakville, Ontario and upon completing the program he returned to Sound Dogs full time where he quickly worked himself into a sound effects editor
position. Shortly thereafter J.R. earned his first supervising sound editor credit on the 3D animated film "Jonah: A Veggie Tales Movie". Of course there was and still is much to learn and so for the past 10 years he has been plying and honing his craft as a sound designer and as a storyteller.
Currently he is working as a freelancer cutting and mixing for various supervisors in the city as well as building a client base of his own as a supervising sound editor and re-recording mixer.
